AFM Delete Wilmington NC — Active Fuel Management Removal
Cape Fear Cams performs AFM delete (Active Fuel Management) on GM 5.3L and 6.2L trucks and SUVs in Wilmington NC. AFM is GM's version of cylinder deactivation — the same system sold as DOD (Displacement on Demand) — and it's responsible for widespread lifter failures in Gen IV and Gen V LS engines. We remove the AFM hardware and tune your ECM to eliminate it permanently.
AFM vs DOD — What's the Difference?
AFM (Active Fuel Management) and DOD (Displacement on Demand) are the same system — GM just renamed it. Both refer to the cylinder deactivation technology that disables 4 of 8 cylinders under light load. Whether your truck says AFM or DOD, the fix is the same.
What We Do
- Replace all AFM lifters with standard non-AFM units
- Remove or replace the VLOM (Valley Oil Manifold)
- Upgrade camshaft to non-AFM grind (optional performance upgrade available)
- Custom HP Tuners calibration — AFM permanently disabled in ECM
